Illinois’s Lincoln Home?

travel,

Both the Democrats Phrazle and the Republicans credit Abraham Lincoln for rescuing the Union and reshaping the country. Slavery was abolished in the United States of America under Abraham Lincoln, which was a great step toward racial equality. The Lincoln residence is preserved and cared for by the National Park Service so that people may come and see where the 16th (and perhaps one of the most significant) president resided. The property, which is located in the heart of Springfield, has been offering tours to the general public since 1887.

Northern Indiana's 15 miles of Lake Michigan beachfront are protected in this national park. Visitors may enjoy ideal kite-flying real estate, animals, marshes, and dunes throughout more than 50 miles of hiking paths on 15,000 acres of federally supported property. Around the lake, tourists will find charming villages with exciting nightlife. When you've had your fill of the water, go to nearby Portage or Chesterton, both of which are home to vibrant artistic scenes.

More than 20 distinct Native American groups worked together to build tens of thousands of earthen mounds in present-day Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois. In Iowa, in the Effigy Mounds National Monument, you may see at least 200 that have been carefully conserved. Explore one of the most stunning regions of the Upper Mississippi River Valley as you look for the lynx, bison, birds, and bears that inspired the irregular mounds. The mounds are off-limits to vehicles as a sign of respect for the site's cultural and historical significance.

This section of Kansas is perhaps what we imagine when we sing about "amber waves of grain" and "beautiful for spacious skies" in the United States. The original prairie in North America comprised an estimated 170 million acres, making the 10,000-acre area protected by the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve a mere drop in the bucket. There are almost 40 miles of trails in the park that visitors may use to learn more about the area's historic scenery and the wildlife that calls it home, including a herd of bison. In the middle of this vast, silent area, you might feel like you're in the real America.

The rolling hills of south-central Kentucky are home to Mammoth Cave National Park, which is situated in the Green River Valley. Mammoth is the longest cave in the world, with more than 400 kilometers of excavated passageways. Visitors to the park may go canoeing on the Green River, hiking, camping, and even horseback riding, among many other activities.

It's not uncommon for visitors to Louisiana to get the impression that they've crossed into a whole other nation. The sounds, sights, and traditions are all uniquely Louisianan. The Atchafalaya National Heritage Area protects and promotes the Cajun culture of 14 parishes in southeastern Louisiana. Wetlands, animal refuges, and marshes are just some of the beautiful environments that the National Park Service protects. Take a boat ride through the bayou's wetlands while you're here.
