Newmont Corporation is the largest gold mining company in the world. Founded in 1921 by William Boyce Thompson. Newmont owns mines in Nevada, Colorado, Ontario, Quebec, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Australia, Ghana, Argentina, Peru and Suriname. Additionally, they mine copper, silver, zinc and lead.
Newmont is a publicly traded company with its stock trading on the NYSE. Newmont is a component of the S&P 500 with revenues in excess of $9 Billion annually employing more than 16,000 employees. Newmont is the only gold mining company in the Standard & Poor’s 500.
